West Mill Wedding Photographer

When I was asked to be the West Mill Wedding Photographer for a beautiful wedding in Derby, I, of course, leapt at the opportunity. Being a documentary wedding photographer from Wokingham meant an early three-hour drive to reach the West Mill in Derbyshire on time to shoot the wedding prep. As I drove across the bridge crossing the Mill and was able to get the full view of the venue, I knew It was going to be well worth the trip.

The West Mill wedding venue in Derbyshire oozes character, it is a 19th-century former industrial mill surrounded by picturesque gardens and the flowing waters of the River Derwent. The building looks to be made entirely of red brick which on the day of the wedding was contrasted with the dark greys of the typically British sky. Though spring was nearing an end, I could still see the remanence of a garden covered with bright yellow daffodils, and it was happy to see it full of secluded spots for some lovely scenic portraits.

For me, wedding photography should be all about friends and family. My aim, as always, was to capture the elements of the wedding which make it unique to them. As a Documentary Wedding Photographer, I believe It is my job to photograph genuine, unstaged moments that will tell the story of the days’ celebrations.

If you are interested in finding out more about my style and approach as a Documentary Wedding Photographer, please feel free to contact me. I shoot mainly unobtrusive candid documentary wedding photography which focuses on the special moments and emotions from your big day. Although I am passionate about documenting the day as it unfolds naturally, I always find time to spend with the newlyweds to produce some intimate and unique couples portraits that can make beautiful prints or a full-page spread in a wedding album.
